Manoir Hovey wins the coveted "Best of Award of Excellence" from Wine Spectator magazine
There are only six restaurants in the province of Quebec that currently hold a Best of award of Excellence one of the most prestigious awards a restaurant could ever win and Manoir Hovey has just been added to this elite roster. It is a well-deserved upgrade for the five-star inn and restaurant, which had previously won the magazines Award of Excellence for seven consecutive years.
This award tops a stellar year for Hovey, which has also won the prestigious DiRoNA (Distinguished Restaurants of North America) award and high praise in the 2003 edition of Frommers guide. Manoir Hovey was also elected one of twelve most romantic hideaways in North America by the Discerning Traveler guide.
The Wine Spectator award confirms the excellence of Hoveys wine list, tended by sommelier Steven Monfette. In his 4 years of dedicated work, Monfette has elevated the inns cellars to its present status as one of Quebecs best. Mr. Monfette also develops seasonal wine-pairing menus, seven-course extravaganzas which showcase the best ingredients from the Quebec terroir, such as Brome Lake duck, veal from Charlevoix, pork, wild mushrooms and berries, ciders, honey and artisanal raw-milk cheeses.
