Manoir Hovey has just been rewarded for its continuous efforts to offer its clients wines of outstanding quality and value. The inn tied for first place with Chateau Bromont for the Cartes dOr prize for best wine list in the province. The awards were given out at the gala dinner held in Montreal on February 18 by the Quebec Ministry of Agriculture, Fishing and Foods.
Sommelier Steven Monfette, responsible for the Manors wine list and cellars, was present at the ceremony, and was thrilled to see his hard work recognized by the provinces Collège des Ambassadeurs du Vin, presided by Mr. Jean-Gilles Jutras. This has been an excellent year for Mr. Monfette, who has led Manoir Hovey to win many other awards, including the prestigious Best of Award of Excellence from Wine Spectator magazine.
Aside from constantly maintaining and upgrading Hoveys wine list, Mr. Monfette also creates special winetasting dinners, in partnership with chef Roland Ménard. The current one honours Victor Dietrich, one of Quebecs best wine producers, who passed away last June. Click here to take a look at it.
Manoir Hovey is one of only three restaurants in Quebec to have been awarded five stars in all three categories (food, service and décor) of the 2004 edition of the prestigious Montreal-based Voir guide. Other awards include the 2004 DiRoNa (Distinguished Restaurants of North America) and Four Diamonds for lodging as well as dining.
