Hovey Manor earns high praise in new edition of Frommer's
The 2003 updated guide for Montreal and Quebec City recommends Hovey as one of the best inns of the region. Here are some excerpts: "Encompassing 20 acres and 1,600 feet of lakefront property, (it) is one of eastern Canada's most complete resort inns. Hovey Manor trumps with its sumptuously appointed rooms (...) They have been rendered even more desirable than before -- ravishingly luxurious in some cases - with fireplaces, balconies, and whirlpool baths. The library lounge is as beckoning a room as can be found, with floor-to-ceiling bookshelves, deep chairs and sofas, and a stone fireplace, chess sets and the daily newspapers laid out. Free touring bikes and two beaches add to the appeal. (...) The menu in the paneled dining room features fresh herbs, vegetables, and edible flowers from the kitchen garden. Dishes are fragrant and full-bodied, in attractive presentations." |
